EVERY WOMAN'S HOUSE VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteers are an important part of our organization which deals with a very sensitive environment. Therefore, we treat and recruit volunteers like employees. So the first step in becoming a volunteer is to complete and submit the application. ClickHEREfor the application. Additional forms for use by volunteers can be found below.
After the application is turned in, those who qualify would be scheduled for an interview. After the interview, references are checked, and those that qualify are offered a volunteer spot, and scheduled for training. We only hold trainings quarterly (January, April, July, and October).
We utilize volunteers in a wide range of different capacities, and in every department within our organization. Those departments include:
Assisting with Clients
Transportation (requires valid Driver’s License and Insurance)
Because of our extensive volunteer opportunities, our entire program is set-up on Volunteer Levels. The levels determine the amount of training one would need as well as the specific requirements:
Level 1 positions do not have direct contact with clients, the community, or confidential information and these positions require a one day, 3 hour training plus; they are jobs like working in the donation room, cleaning, or maintenance work.
Level 2 positions have limited contact with clients, the community, or confidential information; that may include jobs like helping in the office with planning/organization, or doing awareness activities/special events in the community; these positions require 3 days of 3 hour trainings, and have an additional requirement of a fingerprint background check.
Level 3 volunteers are in positions where they would have direct contact with clients, the community, and/or confidential information. These positions are: working in the shelter/residential houses, hospital advocacy, and community education. Each of these positions require a minimum of 2 additional days of training at 4 hours each, and have an additional requirement of a fingerprint background check, a tuberculosis test, and volunteers must be at least 21 years old with proof of a high school diploma/equivalency.
It's important to note that not all volunteers are eligible for all positions, and all volunteers are subject to drug testing.
If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position, please complete and submit the application at your earliest convenience. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to let us know.
